A successful Git branching model

My Git workflow consists of:

  • All commits go to master.
  • Releases get tagged.
  • Branches get created when I’m bored, have had too little sleep or have had too much to drink. For whatever reason, I often end up running into trouble merging and do a lot of manual cutting/pasting.

Suffice it to say, I have much to learn. I picked up quite a few tips from Vincent Driessen’s walkthrough of his Git workflow and might just end up implementing something nearly identical to move beyond using Git as a straight CVS/Subverson replacement.

U.S. Road Signs in Metric

I-89 in VT metric sign

I had previously read on Wikipedia that there were some signs on U.S. roads that were in both miles and kilometers, but I didn’t know there were this many. This is one example of such a sign, which I drove past on the way to Vermont last week.

This sign, along with another one on the opposite side of the road, are the only two signs in the entire Interstate System that are solely in metric.

John Gruber, iPhony (19 August 2002)

What do you consider impossible today that will not only be possible in seven years, but will also fit in your pocket?
